Bill Spragg
for Mayor of Adelaide Hills Council

Mayor Spragg
I am standing for Mayor so I can continue to serve the community as a progressive, inclusive leader of the council. I have worked hard to encourage all councillors to engage in the deliberations of council and have changed meeting procedures to ensure every item on the agenda is given proper consideration. Moving away from the previous default on-block voting on motions unless they were withdrawn for debate to having every item voted on.

The employing of a new CEO has re-energised the organisation as he has a restructured the workforce to match the strategic priorities of the current council.

I retired from TAFE in the middle of the year and now have no distractions from council duties. This means if I am re-elected I can devote 100% of my working time to Mayoral responsibilities which include representing Adelaide Hills Council on the Southern and Hills Local Government Association board and the Metropolitan Local Government Group. Collaboration with other Mayors is important for promoting the needs of our local communities to the State and Federal Governments.

I have a BSc in Food Science, a Graduate Diploma in Adult Education, a Graduate Diploma in Computer and Information Science and a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration. The skills and knowledge I have obtained through earning these qualifiactions have been invaluable in my time on Council. I am committed to being a life-long learner and always strive to improve my performance in representing the community.

I am look forward to having the opportunity to lead the Council for the next 4 years.
